Religious Education

At Uphall we aim to develop the whole child, educationally, emotionally, socially and spiritually. One of the ways we work towards achieving these aims is through the curriculum. Religious Education forms part of the core curriculum here at Uphall and as a school we follow the Religious Education Agreed Syllabus for Redbridge. Religious Education is essential in helping children grow up in today’s multi-faith and diverse society.

This syllabus draws on the experience of the local faith communities. It places great emphasis on developing the skills of investigation and the ability to ask questions, reflect, express and empathise, also the ability to understand and show consideration for the experiences of others. Pupils are given opportunities to develop their knowledge and understanding of religion and beliefs and to contribute to the development of their own beliefs and values. Everyone has their own views of the world and Religious Education at Uphall is about exploring these.
