We are running a Family English Course for our Parents at Uphall Primary School.
The course is for parents, carers and grandparents of children in pre-schools, children centres and nurseries who want to support children’s learning in communication, language and literacy. It will improve your knowledge and understanding of how and what children learn in pre-school, nursery, reception class and Key stage 1 settings. You will also have the opportunity to refresh your own Literacy skills and knowledge.
You will need a basic level of spoken and written English and be committed to the course every week for 10 weeks.
To develop and improve your understanding of grammar e.g. nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs
To develop and improve your understanding of punctuation e.g. full stops, commas, apostrophes and speech marks
To increase your knowledge of spelling strategies, whilst building confidence
In two sections:
1. 9-11am - Parent session.
2. 11.15 -12 pm - Your child will join you for 30-50 minutes for a joint session.
Through tutor observation, task completion, Q & A and individual learning plans. Adults have the opportunity to take a City & Guilds Literacy qualification at the end of the course.
